Welcome to Collie & Sheltie Rescue of Middle TN
Who We Are
Established in 1999 (and formerly known as Collie Rescue of Thompsons Station, TN and Collie Rescue of Chapel Hill, TN)
Collie & Sheltie Rescue of Middle TN primarily rescues unwanted, neglected, abused, or abandoned Collies and Shelties.
How We Operate
Every dog adopted out by our organziation must be intended for a housedog with outdoor privileges. Collies long to be with their companion/owner/family.
They tend to get bored very quickly when cast outside to stay. We require a fenced yard. We do, on occasion, make an
exception to this rule, depending on the situation, and the dog. Exceptions are at the sole discretion of our organization and
primarily IF the dog is a known fence climber. We do not consider electronic fence an acceptable fence. Collies necks
have to be shaved in order for a shock collar to penetrate their heavy coats and if t-storm scared, they will often run
through it deliberately to run away, join (or chase) another dog, a cat or a kid on a bike, and then they can't get back
in. In fact, an electronic fence gives an entirely unwarranted sense of security and cannot keep predators from entering
the yard. You can fill out an adoption application here online, and we will be notified of receipt of your application
and will contact you as soon as possible....fenced yard, vet reference, home photos and home visits are required....must
be 21 yrs of age to submit an application. We will then schedule a phone interview upon receipt of the application.
Adoption fee does apply to defray discounted vet costs and vary upon age (0-18 mos $350, 19 mos-4 yrs $300, 4 yrs-8 yrs $275,
Seniors over 8 yrs $150, Mixed breeds $250). Our adoption fees helps to carry us from one dog to the next as not all rescues come in healthy, nor young. All rescues
are fully vetted (treated for heartworms where applicable), placed on heartworm prevention and flea and tick control and microchipped. We
do out-of-state adoptions, but it is the potential adopter's sole responsibility to travel here to meet/adopt the said
rescue, and you would be approved for adoption prior to meeting the dog.
*SORRY - we do not ship/transport dogs*
